The Doctor Who Supplemental returns and Just Bill rambles on as usual. The focus of this episode is the Classic Doctor Who series, seasons 13-15 in the Tom Baker era, and also brief comments concerning David Tennant’s final episode as the Doctor, THE END OF TIME.
Recapping the highs and lows from the month of November including the sudden passing of Eric Martin, the Trek to Wild Pig, and birthdays and Black Friday. Also I look at the ULTIMATE WATCHMEN DVD and rank my favorite STAR TREK movies.
This episode is mainly a RECENT READS/RANDOM THOUGHTS segment, comprised mostly of hardcover collected editions, and then Just Bill turns Schizophrenic in trying to decide to cut back, wait for trade, or succumb to the call of $3.99 comics as he goes through the DCBS spreadsheet for items shipping in January.
In this episode brought to you prematurely by the encouragement of Farrell, Just Bill rambles and fumbles in his attempt to talk about SPX 2009 and Baltimore Comic Con 2009, and then an insane number of Recent Reads:
Another long delayed, and entirely too long episode! The long break leads to lots of material to discuss… as in 92 comics and 12 trades and hardcovers, not to mention movies and TV! If you think you can stand it, download and listen to Just Bill wax on (and on) about:
Deer Assassinations! Hardware Woes! Comic Shops! G.I. Joe! The Time Traveler’s Wife! True Blood! Being Human! Defying Gravity! Star Trek on DVD!
And then we finally get to comics, with Recent Reads including:
After a three month break, the Drawerbox returns with a bang!
In this episode, lotsa Star Trek talk… from the original series through the Next Generation, Star Trek comics, action figures, and of course, the new movie!
Then, Just Bill takes a trip to revisit the very first comic store he ever stepped foot in! It’s a trip down memory lane!
And finally, it’s all wrapped up with another edition of Recent Reads and Random Thoughts!
Download it! Listen! Savor it! It’s the return of the Drawerbox!!!
It has become customary to celebrate “milestones” in both comics and in comics podcasting, so in this episode we try to mix things up and celebrate Episode 100 by inviting a co-host on for the show. Due to technical difficulties and personality issues regarding semantics we have some mixed results in that regard but hopefully it will still lead to some pleasant listening!
And never fear - ENTER THE DRAWERBOX returns with a look at Acclaim Comics’ reboot of the Solar character.
And lots of books are talked about in RECENT READS & RANDOM THOUGHTS but I lost my notes and forgot what they were. So it’s a surprise!
Thanks to John Mayo and comicbookpage.com as always for hosting the podcast. Also special thanks to Alexander B. (Teenage Wasteland Podcast) Scott Gardner (Two True Freaks Podcast) Dave Williams (Waiting for the Trade Podcast) and Jason Wood (11 o’Clock Comics Podcast) for their contributions to this episode.
